Brrrrr it’s cold!

Hi All! It’s a cold one Guv and no mistake!  The wind in the UK doesn’t whip round you it zips straight through you!  It makes you realise how blessed you are to have somewhere to live, hot food and a pillow to lay your head. So many many people are not so blessed.  Yesterday I went shopping with my daughter (15) and it was quite shocking to see the amount of homeless people living in our area. It’s heartbreaking to see the look of despair and hopelessness on their faces.  We stopped and chatted to one man, let’s call him Les, and his two dogs. We chatted over a cup of tea and doggie treats. He told me the story of how his marriage had failed and then he had been sofa surfing for a year before he found himself on the streets. Most nights he beds down in a concrete tunnel with the dogs and they keep each other warm. As we sat and chatted some people walked by and stared at us, some weren’t as kind and said some awful things. Les told me that he has been robbed b...

Are we getting used to a new normal.

Hello Friends.  Today I had a interesting conversation with a church member (via zoom of course!).  Hello and welcome to my little spot on the tinterweb!  I am a first year Minister in training serving in a church in Kent UK.  I started in September 2020.  Of course my first love is Jesus but I love music and singing, in fact in my previous life I was a Musical Theatre Performer, vocal coach and Theatre Director.    Going into ministry meant a house move with my family of over 300 miles, leaving behind family and friends which was hard. Because of the worldwide Covid pandemic starting out in ministry has been very very different to what I expected. With churches and community buildings closed a lot of my work has moved to on line or over the phone. It’s a strange world we find ourselves living in!   I have started this blog to document my journey into ministry and the ups and downs it’s brings. Also so I have a record to look back on of what I’ve done rightly or wrongly, how I can improve and change things and also to hold myself accountable.  ...
